Swedish Development Advisers helps clients to formulate what
needs to be done, decide on a strategy and implement change.
Credo - Competitive Regional Economic Development in North East Bosnia and Herzegovina. A regional economic development project where the aim is to create jobs. This Sida-financed project was highly successful, and comprised several components; a management training program for entrepreneurs and managers, a process methodolgy allowing companies, municipalities and other actors to jointly create projects and develop the economy and support to the Regional Developement Agency to strenghten their capability. Fondo de Lisiados en El Salvador
Project to help the Fund for Disabled in the Armed Conflict in El Salvador to change its operational processes and implement an IT-based process management system. The output was apparent in the substantially shortened waiting times for clients (from over 100 days to 15 days) and the drastically improved efficiency. The methodology used was transferred to the staff who continued to improve other administrative processes using the same methodology.



SDA is, together with Niras AS, carrying out a mid-term evaluation of Sida and USAID's joint program, Fostering Interventions for Rapid Market Advancements (FIRMA), in Bosnia and Herzegovina. FIRMA is a five-year, $20 million program that began in September 2009. The purpose of the program is to support enterprise competitiveness in the tourism, wood, and light manufacturing sectors of BiH, in the process advancing the country’s ability to meet the Copenhagen Economic Criteria for accession to the European Union. FIRMA is implemented by an international consortium and 12 regional and local economic development agencies in BiH. The evaluation is to review progress, the relevance of the program and achievements so far.
Sri Lanka
In 2005, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) decided to provide a concessionary credit of USD 91.9 million for the construction of two waste-water treatment plants and sewerage collection networks in two districts surrounding Colombo; Ratmalana/Moratuwa and Ja-Ela/Ekala. Construction began on February 1, 2008 and the two waste-water treatment plants have largely been finished. However, the project ran into difficulties and
to enable Sida to understand what issues that have hampered progress and to follow up the performance and fulfillment of obligations, Sida commissioned SDA together with ASPLAN VIAK to carry out a Project Efficiency Audit.
